True Faith I

"Sent to Coventry" today with Mrs M to visit the cathedral and the Two Tone Exhibition, each worthy in its own right of the 3.5 hour round trip.

Intensely invigorating and feeling quite emotional as I reflect on the day. I had no idea that the Church of England could be so progressive, not only in this relatively new building, but more so on the saturation of it's warmth wherever you turned, it's engagement with normal people, and its alliance with social conscience and the less fortunate in society. All things I consider to be true Christian values; true faith.

Inclusion
This extract from the welcome board outside sets the scene.

"...We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you're having problems, are down in the dumps or don't like organised religion. (We're not that keen on it either!)

Christianity, Poverty and Politics in the 21st Century City

I was pleasantly surprised to see a few exhibition boards within the cathedral, from the university project "Life on the Breadline" which were political in nature. It's a three year project analysing the nature, scope and impact of Christian engagement with urban poverty in the UK in the context of austerity since the 2008 financial crisis.

Etched onto the window shown are individual Saints, Angels  and biblical characters interspersed with rows of flying angels. Pictured behind is the original cathedral destroyed by a bombing raid in WWII.
