Victor Hugo is famous for having written Les Miserables and Toilers of the Sea amongst others. Some were written in Guernsey where he lived and his home is now a worthwhile tourist attraction. The Octopus is referred to in Toilers of the Sea which is going to be filmed in Guernsey! Here is a link to the Octopus reference….

A very talented local artist has sculpted this amazing figure of Victor Hugo. It’s got the octopus on the back and is in the town opposite the harbour. A great thing for Guernsey to have thanks to artist Mark Cook!
