Lesser Kestrel
Falco naumanni
Large and loud
Today it has been raining, well, this afternoon it rained - nothing dramatic, just a steady drip-drip.
I went out for a walk and saw lots of birds :
Hen harrier
Night heron
Cormorants
Red Kites
Yellow wagtails
Barn swallows
Corn Buntings
Grey herons
White egrets
Rabbits (oh, that's not a bird)
Buzzards
Coots
Skylarks
Green woodpecker
Roe deer (that's not a bird either, but there were 7 at the bottom of my garden while we were having lunch).
There were lots out, but the light was not great and every time I took a pic, the lens was covered in rain.
Also, I had set my shutter speed a bit too high and the ISO on auto ... which meant that most of the photos were blurred or just full of noise - like this one.
Another learning curve - and something else to remember ...
Anyway here is a Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni)
The Lesser Kestrel is a small falcon. This species breeds from the Mediterranean across southern central Asia to China and Mongolia. It is a summer migrant, wintering in Africa and Pakistan and sometimes even to India and Iraq. Wikipedia
In French it is called a Faucon Crécerellette.
Tomorrow I am again working in Bordeaux and will head towards the Bassin d'Arcachon again ... although rain is forecast .. let's see
