Dragonfly

Today's the day ........................ for 'Wild Steel'

It was good to visit the Wildfowl & Wetland Trust Reserve at Caerlaverock, which is now open to the public again - albeit in a rather restricted way.

There's a Wild Steel Sculpture Trail  to follow, comprising several animals, birds and insects cast in mild steel by sculptor, Geoff Forrest.  He is based at Loch Doon in the Galloway Forest and he takes his inspiration from the flow of water and the bending winds that shape the environment. Like these moments of change, quick sketches in steel catch the spirit and outline of the creature.  He bends the steel by hand and then welds it together to form sculptures.

This one, which is about 6ft from end to end, is unmistakably - a dragonfly .............
