White-faced darter
Not long ago Foulshaw Moss was an ecological write-off, a raised bog covered by a conifer plantation. Far-sighted work by Cumbria Wildlife Trust had most of the trees removed to restore bog, which has now become one of the county's premier wildlife sites. The rare white-faced darter was successfully reintroduced a few years ago.
