An ordinary life....

Lola's Auntie Carole...

Our good friend Carole (Lola's breeder but we've known Carole for over 20 years, long before Lola was on the scene :-) popped in this morning to give Lola a much needed makeover.  (David was brushing her like mad before Carole arrived lol!)

Half way through the makeover, Carole stopped for a bacon roll and a cuppa and to give Lola a break.  She's not a fan of being trimmed, especially her claws!  It was lovely to catch up with Carole and hear about the adventures of Lola's mum Lily and sister Freya.

Break over, the makeover resumed and Lola emerged 20 minutes later looking amazing!  She was still giving Carole lots of cuddles and kisses so obviously doesn't bear a grudge!  :-))

Carole left and David and Alan headed off to the dentist.  Just a check up for Alan.  He's been attending the hygienist to have plaque removed from his bottom teeth and she's making slow progress with it (he has to take diazepam to make him sleepy before she attempts to remove the plaque.  He still has a strong involuntary bite reflex so you definitely don't want to get your finger caught between his teeth!)
The dentist gave his gums a thorough check and says he is happy that his gums are healthy, as that's the most important thing.  The hygienist will carry on chipping away at the plaque.

While they were away I had a long overdue tidy up of my watercolour paint palette.  I have added my recently purchased paints and rearranged the  palette into a more sensible sequence.

No support workers on duty this evening so just us three.  I have had a chat with Alan about allowing us to brush his teeth (he used to love having his teeth brushed but since he got his gastrostomy and stopped eating orally, he's not been keen to have his teeth brushed.  It's as though he thinks he doesn't need to since he's not eating food!) so I am going to try out our old teeth brushing routine on him this evening and see how we get on.  I expect I will end up covered in toothpaste and water!

Fun in the sun :-)

PS Latest Scottish update of covid restrictions....

We will be moving to a modified level 0 from Monday 19th July.

Indoors at home up to eight people from up to four households can meet.

Up to 10 people from up to four households can meet in a public indoor space such as a pub or restaurant.

Up to 15 people from up to 15 households can meet outdoors - whether in a private garden or public place.

Up to 200 people can attend weddings and funerals.

Soft play centres can open.

For hospitality businesses, there is no requirement for customers to pre-book a two-hour slot to go to a pub or restaurant but customers will still be required to provide contact details to assist Test & Protect. And they will still be required to wear face coverings except when seated.

There will still be limits on the size of events and stadia attendances - but these will increase outdoors to 2,000 seated and 1,000 standing, and indoors to 400.

Hospitality venues in level zero will have to close at midnight.

In public places, one-metre physical distancing will remain for people from different households.

The requirement to distance for groups of family and friends meeting in private houses or gardens has already been removed.

Outdoors there will still be a limit on the size of group gatherings. This will be up to 15 people from up to 15 households.

There will be no requirement to distance within these groups of 15.
However, for the next three weeks at least, there will be a requirement for one-metre distancing between different groups of 15.

The gradual return to the office will not begin until at least 9 August.

The mandatory wearing of face coverings will remain in place "for some time to come".

There will be an end to the blanket requirement for close contacts to self isolate.

From next Monday, self-isolation will no longer be required for people arriving from countries on the amber list, provided they are fully vaccinated through a UK vaccination programme and take a PCR test on the second day after arrival.
