Ten a penny
Every property hereabouts is supplied with water from the local Rural Water Scheme. Most domestic water users get 1 unit (1800 litres) a day which is trickle fed into a holding tank on each property.
Water tanks are therefore seen everywhere; many of them on stands, like this one at the Rugby Rooms, to provide a gravity-fed supply to the taps.
One of the requirements of the Scheme is that our water tank is large enough to hold at least three days’ supply, in case of stoppages. This one at the Rugby Rooms looks like it’s the minimum size possible. Mine holds a huge 25,000 litres, which is essential for the garden in this drought-prone region.
Incidentally the name sign on the Rugby Rooms was originally at the local railway station, long since defunct.
