Everyday I Write The Book

Escape pod

As in Escape from the British weather. You can take tea in them at The Packhouse - or if you like you can buy one, prices range from £7,000 to £18,000 depending on size. This one has a rollover Perspex door. I think they are wood and aluminium so you are probably okay in a lightning strike. Unless you get zapped to another dimension …

We spent a lot of money there today, beautifying our home. We’re very aesthetic people despite being messy. We do shabby and buy chic so’s to speak. Got a wonderful beaten metal pot from India and TSM chose a few things for her birthday. And we spent a very pleasant hour on a humid day drinking coffee in an open sided pod that channelled the breeze.

We did some rearranging this morning. House looks bigger for it. Sometimes you have to let things go. And I reconfigured our downstairs smart plugs to work with the new WiFi mesh. Tech nerd me.

Watched a very strange film called Keeping Mum from 2005 tonight. Patrick Swayze, Maggie Smith, Rowan Atkinson and Kristen Scott Thomas. All about the lighter side of murder in an English village. Oddball movie, oddball cast, oddball script. But somehow worked in a rather pointless way. Very undemanding … escapism you might say …
