On the beach

This was washed up on Seven Mile Beach today. It might be the remains of a warp-drive propulsion unit from a wrecked extra-terrestrial vehicle from FAR OUTer space. 
                                                   
Or on the other hand it might be seaweed. If so, it is probably the battered remains of a kelp holdfast, and is FAR OUT from its usual undersea environment.
