Drilling ships Valaris DS4 and Ensco DS8 are moored at the former coal and ore terminal at Hunterston on the Clyde.

Last winter the Valaris caused a major maritime emergency when it broke its moorings in an easterly gale and narrowly avoided going aground on the Cumbrae shore.

While no doubt practical and functional as sea going drilling rigs they would never win a ships beauty contest.
