Silver Studded Blue
After breakfast we loaded up the cars and set off to Holy Island, Anglesey, as we wanted to go to the RSPB South Stack in the hope of seeing the Puffins. However, by the time we got there there was no parking in any of the three car parks so we gave up on that idea! We managed to find a much quieter car park near The Range nature reserve, so we parked up and set off for a walk in the direction of South Stack lighthouse. There land was covered in heather and we saw lots of butterflies, in particular these tiny blue ones which I think are called Silver Studded Blue. They fly so quick and don't settle for long, so I was really happy to capture this one.
We then headed back to the cars and we set up the table and chairs and slid out Bertie's kitchen pod and I made burgers and hot dogs. The girls thought it was great, and I think even Rach and Scott were impressed with what Alan's done to Bertie. We even put the porta loo (aka Penny the Potty) in the back of the car in case the girls needed the toilet - of course they did, and they thought it was really funny.
We planned to go to Newborough beach on the way back but it started raining so we carried on back to the mainland and by the time we were nearly home it was quite warm and sunny again, so we stopped at Rhos on Sea so the girls could play on the beach.
Back home and it was warm enough to sit out so we had pizzas, beer and wine in the garden. Perfect family time!
