Ardipithecus ramidus

This is ardipithicus ramidus, one of the older fossils at the National museum. 4.4 million years old, to be exact. Older than Lucy, its more famous cousin, who is only 3.2 million years old. It wasn't clear to me that Ardipithicus is a pre human, since it is more ape like, with different teeth and a smaller brain. These fossils were unearthed in the mid 90's in two different spots in Ethiopia. Who knows how many there are, yet to be found!

If you are in Addis, check out the National Museum!
