Coffee time
Day 1 Norway
The Color Magic berthed in Norway Oslo at 10.25 am. We were met by the police which was quite a surprise, they were checking passports very carefully and sending any unvaccinated passengers for COVID testing. Fortunately, our Swiss COVID certificates were scanned in successfully, so we didn’t need testing.
We drove about an hour, then pulled in to Dramen, a quite ordinary town, but with good shops and a bank. We carried on to the next place on the way, Kongsberg, an old mining town which was the world capital of silver, many years ago. There was a jazz festival on, amazing to see people around, and the other shock is no masks. I feel really odd walking around shops and busy areas with no mask.
Another 1,5 hours drive though some lovely hilly and forestry area with lovely rivers and lakes every where.
We arrived at the Sandviken campsite, found we had been allocated the best pitch on the site. Amazing views of the lake and wooded hillsides. We had an early dinner, then I had a swim, it was chilly, ca 14 deg C but very refreshing. We then had a cycle ride around the area, then a good nights sleep in the tent.
