Gall
Strange purple pimples on the beech leaves, apparently caused by a midge which somehow makes the leaf build a protective wall over its larvae.
I would be grateful if anyone could tell me what the plant is in the extra. We inherited a big herbaceous clump with stems that grow to about 1m tall, with large white flowers that open from the bottom to the top of the flower "spire" (the leaves in the background are a hydrangea).
