2000 years ago, there was a Roman road restaurant near Maastricht-Noord station, about an hour's walk to Maastricht, where travelers could go for a snack and a drink. Travelers on horseback could even water their horse or pack animal, or even exchangetheir animal. Twelve wells were found.

I didn't know, only found out this morning on my cycle ride.
