Clean slate

Our neighbours are having their roof repaired and re-slated. The old ones were suffering from nail fatigue. The same was true of our back roof a few years ago when we had the work done on the house.

At that time I was at work and it all just happened, Now I can see the effort that goes in to cutting the slates to shape with a tool, the name of which I don’t know but is in the centre of the picture.

It was to the background of tiles being chipped and nailed in place that I spent hours in the garden weeding and planting out. While the rain came for a brief spell most of the time it was grey and muggy.
