Around Loch Venachar
Probably the best walk so far this year. A circumnavigation of Loch Venachar with P, an easy 12 miles or so along a good paths and quiet roads with the water in view most of the time. We exchanged greetings and conversation with four or five walkers, a few cyclists and a pair of kayakers. Blissfully quiet and not a ripple on the loch, I should have brought my swimming stuff, the water was warm and there were numerous suitable Sandy entry points. We watched a lady swimming while we had lunch, you could tell by her leisurely progress that it was a comfortable temperature close to the shore.
A nice surprise was coming across Achray Farm about 2 miles before the end, the track went straight through the farm yard. Delightful owners who were selling goats milk ice cream, the lemon verbena and strawberry was delicious. We viewed the goats and talked to the guinea fowl. The extra is the ice cream shack with guinea fowl.
The plan is to repeat and undertake a Ramblers risk assessment with a view to leading a walk later in the summer once covid restrictions and Sports Scotland regulations allow car sharing.
