Water

is the theme for today's Abstract Thursday hosted by Ingeborg.

We went to Compton Verney this afternoon. The main purpose was to see the exhibition Seasons by Rebecca Louise Law, an amazing, gallery-filling installation of dried plants and flowers through which one walks.  The other reason was to take a walk through the extensive wildflower meadow,  looking good with the flowers, butterflies and dragonflies.

We had a surprise when we arrived, the car park was very full, we'd booked an arrival slot and squeezed in OK.  On walking towards the house we saw why so many people were there.  The TV crews were out in force along with about fifty painters and eight pods set up in the field.  An episode of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year was being filmed.

This was not a problem as they were all outside, it was quite interesting walking around looking at people's paintings as they beavered away.  The main pods were kept away from the general public painters, see extras, the guy in the light jacket is one of the judges, Tai-Shan Schierenberg.

The abstract is made from a picture I took of the swans on the lake taken from the bridge.
