Red Moss

I took the Bug and the Bear on a jaunt up to Red Moss today. It had been a while, and I was a bit disappointed we had missed the cottongrass. Lots of spotted heath orchid though.

We had the traditional hot chocolate at the pond, but the midgies forced us to move round to a breezier spot before we got a chance to investigate the pond properly. The Bear didn't want to leave the pond, but she also didn't want to "get eaten". The Bug read to us from his dinosaur book in the new spot. Then we walked up to the reservoir, rescued frog babies from the road (very exciting), and spotted a ringlet (see extras).

A good chunk of the afternoon was spent playing coastguard on a sofa cushion boat, with a snake lifeline, and then cavemen with a sofa cushion cave and a blanket river of paper fish. Sofa cushions and blankets are the most used toys we have.
