Day in Harrogate

Up early for the 7.15 am walk in glorious T shirt weather.

After, Chris and I headed over to Harrogate where we spent most of the day. Parking at RHS Harlow Carr we popped into Betty’s first for a coffee. We were second in the queue and accommodated straight away. First time we’ve been in since pre lockdown,  very few tables which were well spread out.

We the walked through the woods and the Valley Gardens to Harrogate. Chris was bought a Barbour gilet by Grace for his birthday, whilst they were in Scotland, which was a tad snug. Apparently when he got his coat a few years ago he had to go up a size. They had what he needed in Harrogate, hence our visit. Soon sorted, and it looks very nice, we then got some lunch before returning through the Valley Gardens. It was quite hot by now and as we had to go at some speed to make our afternoon booked time slot at Harlow Carr, we were glad of the shade in the woods.

Lots of Candelabra Primulas along the stream and elsewhere in both the Valley Gardens and the RHS gardens at Harlow Carr at the moment which look lovely. Ducklings in both places too.

These rather strange seasonal statues have appeared since my last visit. This one is called Spring. The other consisted of fruits and vegetables so maybe ‘summer’ but it seems there might be more to see in the Autumn. ( Just decided I think he looks a bit like Mark Cavendish!)

We were a bit pooped by this stage (think I’ve walked over 8 miles today) so although we enjoyed our walk around and the lovely flowers we were glad to find a bench in the shade and get a cup of tea from Betty’s tea hut!

I liked the large St George’s flag in the centre of Harrogate - I wonder why?

A lovely and full day out!

Will add more photos on Flickr

Apparently Val C was there today too, sadly we didn’t see her.
