Verbascum Thapsus
This is common mullein - which is not in fact native to North America, but has been here a long time, I'm thinking. This is a very small one, but they are often well over six feet tall! They are one of the things I routinely mow around when I'm mowing the "lawn." I also mow around daisies. And, honestly, a variety of other miscellaneous wildflowers or flowers that have wandered out of their designated beds. As they do.
