Working Hard
I was on the lookout for a nearby poppy field, and found The Trundle near Chichester via images on Blipfoto and Facebook, so took the opportunity for a day out at the Weald and Downland Museum just a mile of so down the road.
The museum features over 50 historic buildings dating from 950AD to the 19th century. All but one of the buildings were rescued (or replicated using archaeological studies) from across the weald and downlands of SE England, and rebuilt at the museum. It also includes live demonstrations of the times when the buildings were initially created. Today I was delighted to see heavy horses working a disc harrow, a sharp piece of equipment comprising metal discs used to help prepare fields for planting by breaking up dirt clods and destroying weeds, and first patented in the 1860's.
As for the poppies, I found those on the way home (extra)!
