Red currants

The weather was surprising pleasant this morning for a game of tennis, but this afternoon I was back in the garden playing catch up - gathered a kilo of red currants before the torrential rain arrived, hulled them and gathered another generous kilo in the rain - still more to be collected, I love the way they hang like jewels - and I’m very partial to red currant jelly, and raspberry (collected a few of them too) and red currant jam, these fruit also make a delicious base for a compote - a taste of summer.
