Finucane Rose ‘Spitfire Paddy’

I was back at the museum today, it was a bit quieter than Friday, but still quite steady.
I was gifted this rose from one of the other volunteers. She had grown it from a cutting which had taken her 6 years to source and 3 to grow.
The reason behind her dedication to this particular rose is that it was cultivated in honour of Brendan ‘Paddy’ Finucane. Paddy was a WWII spitfire pilot who fought in the Battle of Britain. He was the youngest Wing Commander in the RAF at only 21. He did
part of his training at Montrose Air Station.
