An active day
We are in France for four days as my youngest son is part of his school ski team and they are competing in the British Inter School Ski challenge held every year in Les Houches - a parent is required to accompany their child to support and assist and so we are here. All year long these boys train and race on dry slopes (matting) but once a year they compete on actual snow at this event.
We awoke to beautiful blue skies and after the controlled chaos of getting the boys up, fed breakfast, sorted with the right ski kit (what do you mean you got no gloves?) and up the slope to meet their ski coach at the appointed time, the parents spent the morning skiing with the school sports teacher. Yes, it was a little like being back at school, in that you did not want to let your class mates down or embarass yourself in front of the sports teacher, so for once I kept up with the others all morning and skied my socks off. Usually it is a little like ...one run, oh time for a hot chocolate, another run, surely it must be luch time by now....
So an active morning skiing non stop which meant no coffee breaks or time to photograph the beautiful scenery around me. When we finally stopped for lunch I was able to capture this scene, when the skis were abandoned in glee as we rushed in to have lunch.
