KINGFISHER (Kotare)

I'm on a bit of a roll with kingfishers at the moment. There are quite a number around right now. I've noticed they have a crabbing season at this time of year where they swoop down and grab a crab fly to a perch and proceed to whack-whack the legs off the crab and swallow the rest.  with the force they whack them they must break up the shell somewhat. later they can be seen sicking up balls of the hard remains.
