Mudlarking
Went mudlarking on the Thames foreshore for a couple of hours with a registered mudlarker who gave us some history about the Thames and its changing profile and helped us to identify finds. We did not venture jnto Queenshithe (left of picture) as it is protected because of the medieval wooden posts that remain from the dock that was once there. Nonetheless the shore was strewn with shell and bones, pottery and glass, and clay pipes galore. The sound of the football fans singing drifted across the river from the fans on the South Bank and passing by too. A somewhat surreal experience.
