on friday night we were robbed.
it appears to have happened in the couple of hours we spent in the pub. i'm guessing that the culprit was still in the house when we got home!
i realised something was up later that night. the security light was pointing at the floor (i thought the bracket had just broken), the lid off the recycling box was smashed etc. but nothing obvious until the next morning when i realised what had happened.
it looks like they came in through our neighbour's front gate, took their step ladder, leaned it against the side of our house and used it to climb onto the roof of our kitchen. from there, the walked along the roof and then climbed in through the bathroom window.
it seems that they only had chance to visit one room. from there they took gosia's laptop, bag and power supply (they left the mouse and keyboard).
so far, we have nothing else missing.

after a couple of visits from the police and scientific support, we're left feeling a little bit vulnerable. when you look around, there are loads of opportunities for a thief, if they have the motivation and the plain cheek.
