Wood shavings covering an upturned desk lamp
I was thinking of saying nothing about this and letting viewers decide what this was - if you could be bothered :)
My son actually suggested this blip for me - I think he wanted me to do a macro image stack of it - maybe tomorrow.
He turned 18 this week - bit of a bummer actually given we are back in lockdown again. We had a dinner planned at a ritzy restaurant (just the three of us) but alas that did not happen. His choice for dinner at home: 1 medium carnivore pizza and 1 medium supreme. They were remarkably good but a little different to (say, for example) Raw kingfish, Fraser Island spanner crab, aioli, nasturtium, lemon dressing followed by Carnaroli, faro & pearl barley risotto, roast mushroom, charred onion, pecorino, parsley oil, lemon thyme and finally Chestnut choux pastry, chestnut cream, cinnamon meringue, poached apple..... What was missing of course was the anxious thrill of actually being there not to mention he can now legally have a pre-diner cocktail etc etc etc
To top it off, it's school holidays, he's an only child and he was due to fly (on his own for the first time) to meet up with his NSW team in Melbourne next weekend to compete in an Ultimate Frisbee tournament.
He was a bit annoyed on the actual day but - his shed is his number one passion and, given he's in his final year of high school (13th year aka "year 12") he's been more than happy to be out there having spent the last month or so at his desk. He's also received some of his 18th birthday gifts (for the shed of course). He's got one more item on his "wish list" (a dust extractor) and, as he said today, "it will be a workshop then, not a shed".
We have a family party planned for early August (to fit in with study plans) and then he has a party with his school friends after his "HSC" (as we call it here) - hopefully those will both happen. 18th birthdays are the big ones here in Australia.
He and we are blessed of course, and we know it - especially with what others are having to put up with at the moment.
