Mallow not Rose of Sharon?

I recently accidentally bought a year's subscription to a plant identification app on my phone. Given that it was not cheap, I am determined to make good use of it and try to improve my knowledge of different flora. I am told, therefore, that this is a Rose or Sharon. Where I will fail is remembering the plants I have looked up!  I spent the morning clearing the rest of the courtyard and steps of weeds and in the afternoon I researched hybrid cars that I could lease or buy in France to replace the lease car I had to return in the UK. Tonight I will be glued to the football and tennis.
