(183) Saltburn-on-Sea

Saltburn pier was built in 1868 after the arrival of the railway led to an increase in day trippers and holiday travellers visiting the town. The pier opened in 1869 and the first steamers left the pier in May 1870 with a service to Middlesbrough. This is now the last remaining pier in Yorkshire.
