We started in our living rooms. Next we looked down at our houses. Then our city. And now the county where we live. This one took awhile for me to figure out what I wanted to do. The assignment suggested we look at the history of our county. I decided to look at the early history of Whatcom County. We are very lucky to have a wonderful collection of old photographs of the early days. I selected five: a Lummi family, coal miners, fishermen, timber workers, and the first graduating class of Whatcom Normal School, now Western Washington University. I decided to do a map of the county with historical pictures beneath it. I’m not finished yet but I’m on my way.
