Ever Pointing Upward
This isn't the moon in the sky here - it's where the floodlighting has converged into the night-sky and bounced off low misty rain clouds.
Lens is Nikkor 10-24mm, wide open at f3.5, handheld. Was out for late night walkabout and the lights went out at just after midnight. They stay on longer if there is an event or posh 'do' in the Close.
Had to focus manually. The red light on the top is a good object to focus manually on. I struggled to keep the iso down and areas of the sky showed too much noise and stuff when I first edited, so I reduced the amount I had brightened this area. Which is why it's left a little dark.
The floodlighting here always comes out as a rather muddy greenish yellow and so I changed this, selectively, as the sky had to stay as it was. This took some time.
I distortion corrected the lens' barrel distortion so the very bottom of the cathedral is now square to the frame edges. The lens performs OK wide open but more sharpness was needed. Adding post sharpening upped the noise to an unacceptable level so I sharpened in zones, the most being on the building.
Missing EXIF data: iso 2000
Looks pretty cool in 'large' too!
Will be shooting HD video using this lens, for the first time at a special pre St Patrick's Day music fest in Salisbury's Irish bar, Conrans, this evening. May get a blip for tomorrow, after midnight. So, will be commenting and replying to Blips either when I get back or tomorrow. Have a great evening, whatever you do.
