Behind Closed Doors

OK, there are no handles or catches, but the first two doors are now in place - a mere three years after we first had the idea of changing all the internal doors!
At least we have a bit of privacy now if using the bathroom and - for the first time in eighteen years - we no longer have to contend with Stygian darkness in the hallway if the kitchen door is closed.
The joiner had spent most of the day complaining about the crappy casings he is having to fit the new doors into. I think this was just default, tongue in cheek, tradesman grumbling though. He is very much a perfectionist and I think it galls him slightly having to trim bits off the doors to fit snugly into the casings. Whatever, we are blown away by the difference between these new doors and what we had before. And by Friday they should all be done and all handles and latches fitted.
Then it’s on to the new fitted wardrobes in the bedroom and a bespoke shelving unit in the lounge. After waiting three years, it’s quite strange to think that it may all be finished by the end of next week. I say “finished” - I am slightly glossing over the fact that there is still the redecoration and new carpets to be sorted!
Knowing it was going to be a hot one today, I was actually up and about at 5.30am in order that I could go for a decent run whilst it was still cool. “Cool” being a comparative term - it was still bloody warm, even that early in the morning. Anyway, a 10K was completed without any obvious damage to my dodgy joints, albeit at a very slow pace due to the heat - and a desire not to stress said joints! Consequently, I have spent the rest of the day just slobbing out whilst the joiner worked around me. I did manage to cut the lawn as it got a bit cooler this evening - probably didn’t need to, but rain is forecast next week. More of the same tomorrow, though I’ll swap the run for a gym session.
