Mary's Walk

Sculpture and garden dedicated to victims of the Bath Blitz, located by the River Avon. On 26 April 1942 a 500kg bomb intended for the nearby railyards landed on a civilian shelter at this site killing 28.

At the weekend we met Chris Kilminster, the man responsible for the memorial and garden's creation and maintenance. Chris lost five members of his family including his sister Mary when the bomb hit the shelter. The sculpture symbolises a family of four with arms wrapped around each other.
