Or dog rose.
Wikipedia says that it is by far the most common wild-growing species of the genus roses (Rosa) in Central Europe. 

Usually it is 2 to 3 meters high, rarely four. But as a splayed climber it can reach heights of over 5 m in the shade; it lives up to a maximum of 300 years.
The fruit is used to make pies, stews, jams and wine. The flowers can be made into syrup, eaten in salads, candied or pickled in vinegar, honey and schnapps.

This one is definitely 8 meters high. It worked its way up between tree branches.
