TT: Bug (Green but maybe a touch of purple!)
Pinkhairedlady has done a super job of hosting Tiny Tuesday this month, giving us a challenge of a different colour each week. This week the optional colour is purple but I'm afraid all I can offer you is this green bug - although I think I may be able to convince myself that the tail end has a slight purple tint to it! (Does anyone else see a little "face" with orange eyes looking upwards in its neck region?!)
We left Bath yesterday morning to wend our way home by tomorrow evening. Today we're staying at Ashbourne, and spent the day walking round Carsington Water (extra). It's a relatively new reservoir, the construction of which was completed in 1992 (the first dam they tried to build, which they started in 1979, partially collapsed in 1984, fortunately before the reservoir was filled, so it was completely removed and the new dam started in 1989). It's England's ninth largest reservoir with a capacity of 35,412 million litres. It doesn't have a river feeding it directly: takes water from the River Derwent at Ambergate during winter months, pumped up to the reservoir by 6.5-mile-long tunnels and an aqueduct. Water is released back into the river during summer months for water abstraction and treatment further downstream.
