Summer
A real summer's day with lots of sunshine and I was cleaning out the conservatory, including the 28 windows! I don't mind, we can only do it when it's a fine day, as we need to get all the furniture outside, and it was nice to have all the windows and doors open.
Yesterday I listened to a Radio 4 conversation between Andrew Marr and Ali Smith. It was excellent. The reason for it was because her book 'Summer', the last in the quartet, has been awarded the Orwell Prize for Political Fiction. I have read each of the books as they came out over the last two years, but am about to embark on reading them all in order. People say it is a completely different experience, as there are so many links between the books. I love the books themselves, the choice of colours for the covers and the Hockney paintings for the sleeves. They look good together.
Gordon has been disappointed today. He has had a ticket for the Cricket at Durham for a long time, but when they realised they had to have a reduced capacity, he missed out. So he has been watching it on the TV, thinking what a perfect day for being there . . .
