Inspection Hatch

I love looking for things like this. Things which have stood the test of time because they were well engineered in the first place. Things which have been lovingly cared for, painted and repainted many times throughout their lives and now, even though not in daily use any more, they still give pleasure to silly old gits like me.
This by the way is a hatch on the side of an old capstan down at the harbour. It hasn't been used for at least 20 years and never will be used again. It's an integral part of the furniture of the area though.
