Some rock pools are very colourful with various types of red, pink, yellow, green and brown seaweeds growing or deposited by the tide, as well as shells and creatures. This morning we went to Tyninghame beach hoping for some warm sunny weather and had not expected to meet haar yet only a few hundred metres inland the visibility was good. While walking along the sand we heard the sea but couldn’t even see it. Periodically we heard a sound like a fog horn and although the Bass Rock is not far away I believe fog horns are no longer used so have no idea what the sounds were but when the haar started to clear a little the noise ceased. After exploring the rock pools we then walked to the headland covered in parts with innumerable orchids and patches of heather and the visibility improved sufficiently to look back along the vast beach and watch birds in the calm water. Once we left the coast the views were extensive over East Lothian.
The seaweed isn't blue so it must be the effect of the parts which are on the surface of the water.
