Accessibility Conference

Last tourism conference of the season (for me at any rate). It was quite a day - emotional and educational. The next step is to write access statements for our two properties and work out how best to inform potential guests of what we can offer to give them sufficient information to establish whether they can stay with us.

Heard some great case studies today about businesses which had been set up specifically to accommodate disabled guests. And of trails set up for disabled ramblers. Thoughts about the isolation of people in wheelchairs as they can't often travel in groups as even if public transport is accessible, there's usually only one wheelchair space.

The stand-out speech of the day came from Caroline Casey from Kanchi who spoke very movingly about her own condition and how she has inspired governments to pay attention and develop programmes to give disabled people chances to work.
