Frozen and Freezing Lac Tannay

Never having visited this lake in the winter I was curious to see if it would be frozen over completely. Well here you have the answer. Even though it is just over 1,400m in altitude, the mountains are so high around the lake that the sun is only there briefly in the winter afternoons. There was a most peculiar effect all around the edge of the lake, the rocks seemed to be bursting through the ice and shedding their ice coats.
If you have time press "L" to see the large version and the little village of Tannay at the far end always in shadow at this time of year.
