Woody nightshade

Woody nightshade (Solanum dulcamara) also known as bittersweet, is a poisonous relative of the potato and tomato. Although the red berries are poisonous to humans, birds, especially thrushes, enjoy them safely. In the Middle Ages bunches of woody nightshade were hung round the necks of cattle as protection against witchcraft.
