Cuckoo spit .....

....... is a silly name .... it isn't really cuckoo spit at all!

What is it?

Cuckoo spit is essentially plant sap that has been ingested by the creature that hides inside it. The creature forces air into the fluid it has ingested and then squeezes the bubbles out through its bum!

What is hiding in there?

A tiny little creature that looks something like a green grass seed ....... a Froghopper nymph!

Was it invited? No! It arrived without so much as a 'by-your-leave' .... brought it's siblings with it too .... but seeing as my garden is essentially a wildlife friendly place they get to stay! Just hope they don't take too many liberties!
