Foxgloves
G and I did the Bayfield Bird Walk this morning and it was great to see this bank in the wood completely covered in foxgloves. A lovely walk despite light rain at times.
Day 467 / Day 41 of Step 3 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
A big jump today to 18,270 new cases, up 77% on a week ago, passing daily cases in the US and significantly higher than the rest of Europe excluding Russia. To me, the graph showing the daily cases looks steeper in recent weeks than the start of the 2nd wave in Sept. Deaths still look low, and new admissions to hospital aren't taking off, suggesting that the vaccine is holding the line. There are increasing demands for the Health Secretary to resign or be sacked for breaching COVID guidance on social distancing, including from my local conservative MP and some previous Health Secretaries. A snap poll had 58% of people polled saying he should resign and 25% saying he should stay. Around 2,500 people who arrived in the UK earlier this month and tested positive gave authorities the wrong contact information - what a surprise, not! It's unclear if any have been prosecuted as they could face a fine of up to £10k and 10 years in prison.
