Great Spotted Woodpecker (Dendrocopos major)

A day of steady rain so I wasn't even going to wander round looking for flowers.  Thankfully the birds needed to eat so the feeders were busy and i could keep dry.

This is the male although owing to its position you can't see the red on the nape.  We rarely get visits from the female until the fledglings are brought along to be taught how to use the feeders.
