On the tiles

I pass by lots of front paths without thinking much about it. Many of them round here have encaustic tiles leading up to the front door. The Victorians and Edwardians went to great lengths to create a good impression obviously. This path at a house opposite us was restored a few years ago and looks quite splendid I think. Unfortunately our front path is plain concrete!
