Chough #73
Not such a great day today - until we came upon some choughs, that I first dismissed as jackdaws!
It started off really dull and overcast with the promise of rain later on in the day. After a bit of a long lie-in, we didn't go out until almost 11am. We decided to stay local and drove the short distance to St Ann's Head. It wasn't that exciting in the dull weather and hubby didn't like the cliffs again so we didn't stay too long. However, we did come across these three choughs feeding which I was thrilled about as I have only ever had fleeting looks of them at a distance. They are mainly found on the west coast of the UK, but with less than 400 breeding pairs they are not that common to see, although Wales is quite a stronghold for them.
After seeing two quite uncommon birds on successive days, I feel tomorrow's visit to the Botanic Gardens might be a bit of a let down, unless the birds of prey display provides any good photo opportunities. But we are really going to meet our friends whom we have not seen for many years.
