Farne Island Trip 2
This morning we went along the coast south towards Beadnell, and finished up at High Newton, at a Scrape, where there were an Island assortment animals and birds including some Avocets. Back to the cottage for lunch before heading down to the harbour to book onto our second trip to the Farne Islands.
Great crossing, to Inner Farne where we had an hour to wander around. On the way out we came across a pod of bottle nose dolphins, which was a delight. It was was wonderful leisurely wander after the rushed visit on Monday. On our return journey, a single Arctic Tern flew around the boat, and this is an image I got of it as it circled us. Two of the dolphins are in the extra. On our return to harbour, Sue went on back to the cottage to lay the table and Jane and I went to one of the fish & chip takeaways for out supper, and they were delicious ;-)
Tomorrow (Friday) is our last day here, as we head home on Saturday. I shall be sad to leave so soon, as we have been so lucky with the weather, but we have rain this evening, and more forecast for tomorrow.
