Downs and Ups.

Today we spent the morning on Lindisfarne. We found a few birds, but nothing remarkable. We headed into the dunes to hunt for butterflies and orchids, and fared better, finding Pyramidal and Marsh Orchids and these beautiful Marsh Helleborines, which were new for me. We spotted Small Heath, Common Blue and Dark Green Fritillary Butterflies, and Five-spotted Burnet Moth. We then headed up into the Cheviot Hills and saw Dipper and Grey Wagtail on the streams and Buzzard and Kestrel in the skies. One more day of our wildlife adventure before we head home on Saturday. The weather doesn’t look to promising but I’m sure we’ll make the best of it.
